Early Intervention: The Importance of Structural

Pruning in Tree Development

What: The presentation by Kris Bachtell, the recently retired Vice President of Collections and Horticulture at The Morton Arboretum, will start with a classroom discussion about the theory of structural pruning that is typically performed on young to medium-aged trees to enhance the tree's appearance, stability, and benefits to the environment.  Next, attendees will head outside on the golf course to see and practice these techniques in a hands-on manner.

Morning donuts and coffee and lunch will be provided courtesy of our generous Industry Partners.

Where:  Westmoor CC Maintenance Facility

Brookfield, WI

When:  October 28 from 9 am-1 pm.

Due to the nature of the program, this event is limited to the first 20 WGCSA assistant superintendent registrants, and in the event of inclement weather, November 4 is the make-up date.
